What's here for you

A new network

Associate Membership gives you access to lots of ways to connect with members, so you can learn from each other, collaborate or just chat about our amazing discipline (without having to explain what it's about!). Online and in-person events, discussion forums and groups make it easy for you to get in touch. If you're working in another field but might like to move into human factors, the relationships you'll start to build will stand you in good stead for the future.

Learning material

You'll have access to a wealth of material to enable you to learn more about the discipline, whatever your starting point. Our member magazine, full of articles and news stories, our guidance and infographics, journal papers and on-demand webinars and Masterclasses are all available whenever you need them. The more you increase your breadth of knowledge and understanding, the more you'll be able to see where and how human factors can be applied and the impact it can make.

Support for your career

Our helpful and friendly community will support and guide you in all sorts of ways. Through assistance from the CIEHF team whenever you need it, you can make the most of your membership. Many members are pleased to offer mentoring which provides motivation and guidance for you to learn and practice human factors in more depth. With their advice and encouragement, it's a great way to progress to professional membership and get recognition for your skills.

Questions you might have

Can I upgrade my membership in the future?

Yes, you can apply to become a Technical Member or a Registered Member. You'll need a minimum of two years of work experience in human factors for Technical Membership and four years for Registered Membership. Your application will involve keeping a log book of the work you undertake during your years as an Associate. It's important to start this process early, so you have all the necessary records when you want to apply. Find out more about Technical Membership. Find out more about Registered Membership.
