Understanding DIY challenges can help children's learning
Derby University psychologist and ergonomist Miles Richardson's research into how adults tackle DIY projects has lead to a greater understanding of the way children approach construction tasks. This in turn could help identify children who might struggle academically, resulting in steps being taken to support them in intervening years.
There was coverage of this research on June 21 on BBC Radio 2's Chris Evans show and in the Yorkshire Post on 20 June.

ESRI ergonomist Rachel Grant spoke to Fox television about possible ergonomics reasons why a young boy was the sole survivor of the Libyan air crash in May.

The effectiveness of ergonomists
Research by Claire Williams, a lecturer at Derby University, into the qualities that ergonomists need to best advise employers when their staff suffer workplace problems, was featured on the Physorg website. There was also a full page feature of her work in the Derby Telegraph on Wednesday 5 May.
