GL Noble Denton is a leading global independent advisor to the oil and gas industry. Its Safety & Risk practice offer technical consulting services to manage process risks for all assets in the oil and gas value chain; services include preparation of safety cases and compliance documents, quantitative risk assessments, large scale hazards testing, incident investigation, technical and safety training and human factors.

The Applied Psychology and Human Factors team, within Safety & Risk, provides a range of services to public and private sector clients across different industries, including oil and gas. As the team continues to grow its oil and gas business, we are looking to recruit an experienced Human Factors Engineer to lead projects for clients and secure new business. More specifically the role will include:

  • Providing human factors engineering advice to customers, project teams (including non-UK based) and other parts of GL Noble Denton
  • Supporting project delivery through project management, authoring and issuing technical reports. Presenting results, conclusions and recommendations from human factors engineering consultancy work, as appropriate to our customers.
  • Securing Applied Psychology and Human Factors Consultancy work (primarily HFEHuman Factors Engineering work) through business development activities including engagement with potential and existing clients
  • Identifying, preparing and/or reviewing proposals and cost estimates for potential new business opportunities
  • Promoting the capabilities of GL Noble Denton through attendance and presentation at industry events, conferences etc. as appropriate to the business
  • Providing staff development, training and coaching to relevant GL Noble Denton staff through technical support and guidance during project development and delivery

In terms of the technical requirements of the role, we are looking for someone that has experience in the area of human factors engineering in the oil and gas industry. They should be able to demonstrate practical experience of applying their knowledge and skills in the following technical areas: human factors integration; safety critical valve analysis; plant and equipment construction; control room design and assessment; alarm management; human machine interaction (HMI) / human computer interaction (HCIHuman Computer Interaction); safety critical tasks and human error; workplace layout; labelling and signage design etc. They will be a Registered Ergonomist.

Furthermore, the right candidate will be technically and commercially confident; able to motivate and influence; have strong project and people management skills; able to work to tight deadlines; proficient at cross-company working; have a flare for business development; and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
