David Hitchcock Ltd
Biography:
David Hitchcock Limited is an organisation specialising in three areas:
1. Ergonomics and human factors
2. Health and safety
3. User response
For each of these areas we provide consultancy, research and training services.
Our ergonomics services are intended to help ensure that people can interact, benefit from and perhaps even enjoy the things they do, the stuff they use, and the places they go. This can be achieved by properly understanding user needs, capabilities and aspirations and then making sure they are met by the provision around them.
Our health & safety services aim to reduce accidents and ill-health by providing clear, sensible, prioritised and accurate information and support.
Our user response services have developed in response to clients requesting a multi-disciplinary approach to understanding user needs and identifying the factors which need attention to improve take-up, acceptability, desirability and usability of a system or product. These are sometimes referred to as ‘soft factors’ or ‘psychosocial factors’, those aspects of a design which may sometimes seem somewhat intangible but which can actually make or break the design.
Sectors and Sizes
We work in all sectors and with organisations of all sizes. Our commissions range from half-day training sessions to longitudinal studies for Government departments.

Client Feedback:
“Thank you for organising this today. Although I have had ergonomics training before, it was just a group session without the one on one and had no where near the impact of today. David was very good at looking at what I was doing and attempting to stop some of the pains I have been having. His attention was excellent“. Abenaa Afari, Coin Street Community Builders
“Many thanks for your assessments and training. The team here were very happy with the outcome, including the presentation and information they received during the individual assessments and speaking with you in general. It is clear that you have the knowledge, experience and have provided staff with increased confidence and awareness – Thank you!” Richard Dye, Timebank.
“Thank you so much for yesterday. You were great. Everyone not only found it very helpful but also enjoyed it!” Maggie Bergman, Pears Foundation

URS Infrastructure & Environment UK Ltd
Biography:
The URS Human Factors Team work with designers, manufacturers, research organisations, operational, government and regulatory bodies in order to support all types of human-systems interfaces and organisational projects. This ranges from ensuring that safety critical systems are resilient to human error, that associated human tasks are feasible, through to making sure that functions are appropriately allocated between humans and technology and that devices and interfaces are safe, easy and enjoyable to use. As well as investigating and improving the tools and products of the job for enhanced use and efficacy, we are experienced in investigating and developing the socio-technical and organisational systems that impact on human performance.
