DESCRIPTION:The 2013 theme is 'Future-proofing Care and Practice'. In the context of moving and handling people\, healthcare and service providers must regulate themselves in line with legislation and national standards. Compliance assures the public and the HSE\, Care Quality Commission and NHS Litigation Authority that there are policies and planning in place to provide effective risk and client assessment\, management and safe working practices for both client and carer\, as well as ensuring client dignity. The need for compliance with Health & Safety Legislation as well as the application of ergonomics principles in policies\, protocols and practices will be discussed throughout the conference.
